FADO MUSEUM

 

DESCRIPTION:

 

Opened its doors to the public at September 25, 1998, celebrating the exceptional value of Fado as a identifying symbol of Lisbon, its deep roots in tradition and cultural history of the country, its role in the affirmation of the cultural identity and its importance as a source of inspiration and intercultural exchange between peoples and the communities.
 
The visitor is invited to know present history of fado from its origins, in the nineteenth century, to the present day, the main paths of mediatization as a urban song, the theater, the radio, the cinema and television - the history and the technical developments of the Portuguese guitar, the environments of fado houses, as well as biographical and artistic journey of dozens of personalities from the fado singers universe.
