ITINERARY:

 

9 hours tour, Pick up at 9 a.m. wherever you are in Lisbon / Sintra / Cascais.

We leave Lisbon in direction to Tomar, on this small and beautiful city you will get to know the importance of the alliance of the first King of Portugal D.Afonso Henriques with the Knights Templar. On the arrival we go up to visit the Castle and Convent of Christ, the Headquarters of the Templars Order in Portugal (ticket included).

Now is time to lunch and you must try the local gastronomy, traditional food, cooked slowly, cozy, typical of this part of Portugal.

After a fine meal we go for the historical city center, the beautiful central park, the chapel of St. Baptist and the Republic Square.

We leave Tomar heading to the Dam of "Castelo de Bode", belonging to the set of dams of the Zêzere river, one of the most important and biggest in the country. The reservoir of this dam stretches along 60 kilometers of landscape between valleys, mountains, pine forests of outstanding natural beauty. Following the river valley, passing by the village of Constância, we spot at the distant the Almourol Castle.

Almost in the shadow of this ancient Castle, we realize the importance that must have had, in the achievements and the conquests of the territory that one day became Portugal. Nearby there is a pier where we caught a boat to the Island Castle. We land on the island and we will visit the Castle (ticket included). Must climb up to it's tower... is a breathtaking sight. In the Castle will be given an historical explanation about the construction and occupation of the fortress. We are in the lands of the Templars.

 

After the visit we return to Lisbon by the lands of "Ribatejo" to enjoy a beautiful landscape that we call "lezíria ribatejana", vast plains that follow the river Tagus, land of bulls and "Lusitano" horses.
