ITINERARY:

Starting along the Tagus river, visiting the UNESCO World Heritage sites:
The Tower of Belém and the magnificent Jeronimos Monastery and its Church (Church visits are free), with a stop on the Monument to the Discoveries. We leave Belém with the light, sweet flavor of the famous "Pasteis of Belém".
We go now to the city center, to the Commerce Square, then through the Arch of Augusta Street we follow by this charismatic street until we reach the D. Pedro IV Square (more known as "Rossio"), time for the Lisbon taste, the traditional "Ginjinha" before lunch. Before leaving the downtown we must visit the Church of St. Dominic, in 1959 the church was devastated by fire, in 1994 the church reopened, but the restoration left many signs of the fire in place which makes it an unusual beauty.
Now get ready to enter the "Medieval Lisbon", from this point the tour will be on foot, of moderate effort but we advise the use of comfortable shoes, but to the Castle Hill we have a way to get there without killing your legs :) The fortification was built by the Moors in the mid-11th century, was the last defensive stronghold for the elite who resided on the citadel. D.Afonso Henriques, the first king of Portugal, conquered the castle on October 25th, 1147,(after a siege of 12 weeks) the visit inside the Castle is optional. On the way up we will pass by the viewpoint of "Chão do Loureiro", by the castle hill neighborhood and through the viewpoints of "Portas do Sol" and "Santa Luzia" on the way to the neighborhood of Alfama, passing through the narrow streets of the Lisbon's oldest neighborhood we arrive to the Lisbon Cathedral, rebuilt in 1147, when the city of Lisbon was conquered from the Moors, with a romantic style, its dark medieval aspect pointing to small and fabulous details from ancient times. This is the most complete Lisbon Tour that we have, for travelers who really want to understand our past, our culture and our way of life. Without a guided tour everything will be nothing more than a picturesque place and Lisbon deserves to be known in a profound way.
