ITINERARY:

 

Pick up at 9 am. wherever you are in Lisbon / Sintra / Cascais.

We leave Lisbon and headed into the Alentejo region, one of the most beautiful lands of Portugal.

 

On the path to Évora, we go visit a very old and special place, the "Cromeleque dos Almendres", Megalithic monuments with over 7000 years.

 

Then to the beautiful walled city of Évora, which deserves a visit with passion, it offers time marks of a city that was born over the centuries: monumental churches, historic squares, whitewashed houses and medieval streets ... Outside the city embraces the nature wheat fields and hills, lakes and streams, lonely landscapes of incomparable beauty ... its hospitable people, the handicrafts, rich gastronomy, traditions, smells and flavors that characterize this beautiful region is awaiting for you!

In the arrival we do a walking by the historic center, we will pass through the old aqueduct "Água de Prata" from the year 1537, by the Giraldo Square, by the Roman Temple and visit the Cathedral of Évora, there we must climb to its rooftop for magnificent views of the fields of Alentejo region.

At break for lunch, we suggest a restaurant of local cuisine, this region has very ancient gastronomic traditions and is one of the best in Portugal.

After lunch we continue the visit to the St. Francis Church and its Ossuary Chapel (.. yes, is made of very old human bones, is something weird but unmissable).

 

Upon time available, we also advised to visit:

 

- The Cadaval Palace and it's Church ot Saint John the Evangelist - The Palace was built during the 14th century on the ruins of a Moorish castle, combines three types of arquitecture: mudejar, gothic and manueline; the Church is one of the most beautiful churches of Portugal, with an unique collection of the 18th century tiles.

- The Museum of Évora - The museum’s building is located in the city’s highest part, between the Cathedral and the Roman Temple. Archaeological research undertaken in 1996 disclosed the existence of part of the paving of the roman forum, some houses from the Islamic period and an area of medieval graves, slightly posterior to the Christian Reconquest in the XII Century, beneath the museum’s foundations.
